The awards ceremony was held on December 21st at SBS Prism Tower in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event was hosted by Shin Dong-yeop, Kim Hye-yoon and Kim Ji-yeon.

During the live broadcast of the 2024 SBS Drama Awards, actress Park Shin-hye went viral for a short moment when she looked emotional seeing actor Kim In-kwon, who acted with her in “The Judge from Hell”, receiving Best Supporting Actor.

During Kim In-kwon’s speech, the big screen showed Park Shin-hye clapping warmly with teary eyes as if she was so proud of Kim In-kwon’s achievement. The video clip of this moment was shared widely on SNS and netizens also praised the actress for her warmness towards her colleague.

Aside from that, Park Shin-hye also created hot topics with her visual at the event. Wearing an off-shoulder dress, she transformed into a gorgeous princess. Park Shin-hye has had a successful comeback this year with a completely new image in “The Judge from Hell”. Thanks to her amazing transformation, she not only received Best Couple with Kim Jae-young but also won Director’s Award, an award given to the best actor chosen by drama directors. Despite that, Park Shin-hye still lost to Jang Na-ra in the Daesang category.

Overcoming prominent nominees, including Park Shin-hye, Jang Na-ra took home the grand prize (Daesang) for her outstanding performance in “Good Partner.” The drama started with a 7.8% viewership rating and despite facing competition from the Paris Olympics, it consistently rose in popularity, reaching a peak of 17.7% and becoming the highest-rated SBS drama of 2024. As soon as Jang Na-ra’s name was announced for Daesang, everyone cheered and applauded her loudly.

Jang Nara expressed her gratitude to the writer Choi Yoo-na, the director, and the staff who supported her acting, as well as her co-stars Jun-han, Jae-i, and the late Yoo-na. She also thanked Nam Ji-hyun, whom she called the pillar of her drama and her own personal pillar. The actress said, “Thanks to Nam Ji-hyun, I was able to do so much. She was a lucky charm. I’m actually not well-prepared, so I’m sorry if I leave anything out. I’m really grateful to my friends. I think my older and younger sister friends raised me. My mother, who is my life, and my father, who was my role model, thank you so much, all of you. And I love my husband very much for loving me no matter what. I’ve been doing this for about 20 years, and I’ll work really hard.

She continued, “Thank you to the fans who have cheered me on, even during difficult times. And honestly, I realized this late after becoming a celebrity, but I wish I had realized it sooner. I didn’t know how big of a miracle it was for people I didn’t even know to like me and watch my dramas. As I got older, I realized this and felt both grateful and sorry. I will work really hard in the future and want to remain a curious actor. Thank you very much.
